Iconic $1 Baked Potato!

One of the New York State Fair’s most beloved food traditions is getting a new lease on life—and it’s still just a buck.

The iconic $1 Potato Booth will have a new operator this year, with Tully’s Good Times taking over the stand. The state is paying Tully’s a $40,000 management fee, while also covering booth staffing and supplying the potatoes.

The deal is designed to keep the famous bargain alive, with fairgoers still able to grab a baked potato or Syracuse style salt potatoes with butter or sour cream for just $1. And this year, the potatoes will be New York grown, adding a little extra local flavor to a tradition that served more than 70,000 potatoes at last year’s fair.

So, despite a changing vendor, one thing remains the same: the $1 potato is still a New York State Fair tradition worth standing in line for.
