A Survival Story!

In an incredible story of survival, Brieonna Cassell, a 41-year-old mother of three from Indiana, endured six days trapped in her crashed car after veering off the road in northwest Indiana.

The incident occurred when Cassell, driving near the towns of Wheatfield and DeMotte, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel on March 5th, 2025, and crashed into a deep ditch in Brook, approximately 80 miles south of Chicago. Her vehicle landed out of sight from passing traffic, and with severe injuries preventing her from moving her legs, she was unable to escape or call for help after her phone lost power.

Despite the dire circumstances, Cassell managed to survive by using her resourcefulness and determination. Unable to leave the car, she dipped her hoodie into a nearby creek, retrieving water by wringing it out and drinking from it. This ingenious act would keep her hydrated for nearly a week. She suffered serious injuries, including broken legs, ribs and a wrist. She also endured excruciating pain while screaming for help, though no one could hear her from the road above.

Cassell was finally discovered on March 11th, 2025, by Johnny Martinez, a drainage equipment operator, who spotted her car while working near the Newton County Landfill. Martinez alerted his supervisor, Jeremy Vanderwall, a local fire chief, and together they found Cassell conscious and able to speak. Emergency responders extricated her from the wreckage and airlifted her to a Chicago hospital, where she was admitted to the ICU. She underwent surgery on March 12th for her injuries, and while her condition stabilized, her family noted that recovery would be a long process due to concerns about her legs healing.

Those Broken Records…

An Egyptian man named Ashraf Mahrous, widely known by his nickname “Kabonga,” recently made headlines by setting multiple Guinness World Records, including one for pulling a train car with his teeth. On March 13th, 2025, at Ramses Station in Cairo, Mahrous pulled a 279-ton train nearly 10 meters (33 feet) using only his teeth, surpassing the previous record by 19 tons. This feat earned him the title for the heaviest rail pull using teeth.

In addition to this remarkable achievement, Mahrous was recognized for two other records: the heaviest locomotive pull and the fastest 100-meter road vehicle pull, the latter completed in under 40 seconds with a two-ton vehicle. Crowds gathered to cheer him on as he demonstrated his extraordinary strength, first with his teeth and then by pulling the train with a strap around his shoulders.

Mahrous, a wrestler and president of the Egyptian Federation for Professional Wrestlers, is no stranger to Guinness recognition. He previously set records for cracking and eating 11 raw eggs in 30 seconds in February 2024 and pulling an almost 35,000-pound truck with his teeth in June 2021. His latest accomplishments further solidify his reputation as a strongman with what one event organizer described as “abnormal strength.”

Beware of The Fraudsters!

This story serves as a reminder to be wary of fraud and refers to a heartbreaking case first reported by The New York Times in late 2024.

An elderly man named Alfred Mancinelli, aged 79, was deceived by scammers impersonating WWE superstar Alexa Bliss. The fraudsters convinced him he was in a romantic relationship with “Lexi,” leading him to send nearly $1 million from his retirement savings and his granddaughter’s college fund over several years.

The scam began in 2018 and intensified during the COVID-19 pandemic, reducing his savings from approximately $900,000 to just $128,000 by spring 2021. Despite efforts from his son, Chris, to intervene (including transferring the last $100,000 to a safe account, which resulted in a lawsuit from Alfred) the manipulation persisted until Alfred’s death in 2023 following complications from neck surgery.

The real Alexa Bliss, whose legal name is Alexis Cabrera, has repeatedly warned fans about such impersonation scams, emphasizing she would never solicit money from anyone.

A Wild Delivery!

Just a few days ago on March 9th, 2025, in Bradenton, Florida, a pizza delivery driver showed up to drop off an order and spotted an 8-foot alligator camped out under the customer’s car in the driveway. Naturally, the driver noped out of there and called for help. Officer Tolson from the Bradenton Police Department rolled up, and since the driver wasn’t about to tango with the gator, he handed the pizza off to the cop to finish the delivery.

Body cam footage caught the whole thing! The customer came out the front door despite warnings, saw the gator, and freaked out, yelling, “Oh my heavens, there’s a big alligator under my car!” Tolson kept her safe, took the pizza around to the back door and even snapped a pic of the reptile for her with her phone. Florida Fish and Wildlife eventually showed up, trapped the gator and relocated it somewhere far away from pizza joints. Just another day in Florida, I guess!
